1st LCBAM BUSINESS MEETING

In June 2016, Finrenes participated Mexico Low Carbon Project. Several new project initiatives took place on the 1st business meeting in San Luis Potosi.

The Low Carbon Business Action in Mexico project is funded by the European Union. Finrenes exchanged information about the projects in order to collaborate on developing and strengthening low carbon technologies.

The Low Carbon Business Action in Mexico project, funded by the European Union, successfully held its first business meeting in the city of San Luis Potosí. Over 80 proffesionals and 50 Mexican and European companies participated in the event, exchanging information about their projects in order to collaborate on developing and strengthening low carbon technologies.

The meeting, hosted by the European Commission and ProMexico, was supported by San Luis Potosí’s advanced technology center (CIATEQ), which also provided the venue for the event, and by the National Chamber of Industry (CANACINTRA).

In total, there were held 400 B2B/C2C meetings in 16 rounds. Business opportunities were identified in Agrofood sector (Waste-to-Energy, Waste Management and Wastewater Treatment) and Construction (Renewable energies, Passive House model) and will be monitored and matured with the Low Carbon Business Action in Mexico (LCBAM) technical assistance.

During the presentation, Mr. Vincenzo Collarino, EU representative in Mexico remarked the role of the EU legislation on environmental and sustainability issues, promoting in European firms a 45% increase in economic growth and a 19% decrease in carbon emissions between 1990 and 2013. Mr. David Calvo, Team Leader of the “Low Carbon Business Action in Mexico”, stated that during the rest of 2016 and up until July 2017, the project will promote the definition of 40 Cooperation Partnership Agreements between Mexican and European firms.

The participants included companies from Italy, Finland, Spain, Portugal, as well as Mexican companies from Mexico City, Chihuahua, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí.

During 2016, European and Mexican companies will be able to continue interacting in at least other four events planned for Cuernavaca, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Cancún.
